"D.W. Swims with the Fishes" is the second half of the sixth episode in the thirteenth season of Arthur.

Summary[edit]

D.W. and James enter the preschool swim meet and recruit their older siblings to coach them. It all goes well until Arthur and Molly begin to get more competitive than D.W. and James.

Plot[edit]

Arthur says that the nicest people can lose control sometimes. Arthur then presents Brain as an example. Brain is playing pinball while Francine is complaining, when Buster comes back with popcorn and trips on the cord, unplugging the game. Brain is furious at Buster, and he starts chasing him around the arcade.

D.W. Swims with the Fishes

After the title card, D.W. is at the public pool swimming and is soon joined by James and the two win again. James told her he sped up after he saw Timmy behind him. The lifeguard then tells the kids she has news for them. D.W. tells her mom that they are having a swim meet and wants to win it.

At the public pool, Arthur and D.W. are there and they see James with his older sister, Molly. As D.W. and James are swimming, Arthur talks to Molly and Molly tells him that she was forced into this and is hoping that no one sees her.

Soon, D.W. and James get into an argument over whose lane they are in and they start splashing each other. Arthur and Molly break up the tiff, however they are not done with one another yet.

Arthur and D.W. go to the store get a new swimsuit and Arthur and D.W. end up seeing James and Molly there and he then chooses another swimsuit for D.W. Early in the morning, Arthur wakes D.W. up to start practicing.

At the public pool, Arthur is busy waiting for D.W. to get dressed into the swimsuit and Molly appears and she and Arthur act surprised to each other there early in the morning. When D.W. and James finally come out after dressing in their swimsuits they are wearing almost identical swimsuits.

When they try swimming in their swimsuits, they sink to the bottom of the pool, only to have Arthur and Molly have to rescue them. Arthur and Molly then continued training their siblings.

At preschool, D.W. tells James her hands are pruny and James still had his ear plug in from the morning swim and said he will be glad when tomorrow's race will be over. D.W. tells him she would wish him luck, but she wishes herself good luck.

At the day of the race D.W. and James are encouraged by their older siblings to win and the race starts. D.W. and James have the lead and James then gets stuck. D.W. frees James and they continue racing. Emily, however, becomes the winner of the race and D.W. and James come in second.

D.W. and James are given second-place trophies and they hand the trophies over to their older siblings and they go back in for a swim. Molly tells Arthur that she felt she had won an award for Jerk of the Year and Arthur says to her that they had tied. Molly suggests they buy their younger siblings banana splits.
