TOP STORY: Grim, Scary Tales! by Arthur "Read at Your Own Risk"

This time of year has lots of holidays, and one of my favorites is... Halloween! It's a time for costumes, candy, and lots of scary stories. Here are some of the gang's favorite spooky tales!

Booster Baxter: "The Haunted Pizza" There was this boy. Late one night, he went to his kitchen. He opened the refrigerator, and took out a pizza box. He placed it on the counter. He wanted that one last piece of leftover pizza! But before he could open the box, it opened and closed itself like a mouth! "Doooon't eeeeeeaat meeeeeeeee!" The boy ran back to his room and jumped into bed, vowing never to eat pizza again.

Frankenstein Frenski: "The Goalie Who Wasn't There" This girl was the star of her soccer team. She was helping her goalie defend their goal. They watched the ball get closer and closer. The girl said, "Okay, here we go!" and turned to her goalie, but... her goalie was no longer there! All that was left of her were her shoes...

Pal of the Baskervilles: "The Telltale Tail" Ruff-ruff. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Ruff-ruff-ruff-ruff-ruff. Bow-wow! (pant, pant, pant, pant) Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrufff! (Translation: Once upon a time, there was a dog who stole a doggie treat. He hid it under the rug. His owner asked if he'd taken it. The dog tried to shake his head "no." But instead, his tail wagged! He couldn't stop it! Then his owner asked if he'd hidden it under the rug. He tried to shake his head "no" again. But his tail wagged even harder! That's when his owner found the treat. And from that day on, the treats were kept in a locked cabinet!)

THE SCARINESS CONTINUES: More Tales to Tingle Your Spine presented by Booster Baxter

One set of spooky stories is never enough...

Inky Barnes: "The Curious Clarinet" Once upon a time there was a boy who loved music. One day, after school, he went into the music room. Nobody was around. The room was empty, except for a clarinet on the table. The boy walked over, picked up the clarinet, and began to play. It was a beautiful sound! But when the boy tried to stop, he couldn't. He played and played, until he was so tired, he fell asleep. And when he awoke, the curious clarinet was gone...

Mummy Crosswire: "The Batty Butler" On a Halloween night long ago, a rich girl needed help putting on her costume. She called for her butler. When he arrived, he looked a little different. As he got closer, she realized... he was a giant bat! He flew up into the air and out the window, and she never saw him again.

Dreaded Werewolf (D.W.): "The Mary Moo Cow Doll that Looked Like It Came To Life and Scared This Girl, Even Though She Knew She Was Just Seeing Things" (D.W. doesn't have a real story to go along with this. The title scares her enough!)

You can make you own scary creatures in Alien: Assembly Required.
