The Arthur Mega Marathon
The Arthur Mega Marathon is a multi-day event on PBS KIDS from February 16-21, 2022 in commemoration of Arthur's 25th broadcast year and final season. Nearly every episode of the show is scheduled to air back-to-back, concluding with the debut of Season 25, which includes the series finale.[1]
Event information[edit]
The marathon is expected to air on the PBS KIDS 24/7 Channel on television, suspending all normal programming from 9 AM EST February 16 to 5 PM EST February 21. There will be a livestream on the PBS KIDS Video app and website, in addition to the official PBS KIDS YouTube Channel
The episodes will generally run season by season, but not necessarily in their original broadcast order. One-hour specials are scheduled during evening prime-time viewing hours. The full event schedule includes nearly the entire series of Arthur episodes and one-hour specials, with the following exceptions:
- Five episodes are omitted from the marathon. These episodes are also no longer part of the normal broadcast rotation on PBS:
- 503 “It's a No-Brainer / The Shore Thing”
- 903 “Arthur Weighs In / The Law of the Jungle Gym”
- 1008 “Binky vs. Binky / Operation: D.W.!”
- 1202 “Room to Ride / The Frensky Family Fiasco”
- 1301 “The Great MacGrady” (Note: The new, revised edition of “The Great MacGrady” will air during the marathon.)
- The following holiday specials are omitted from the marathon:
- The movie Arthur’s Missing Pal will not air during the marathon.
Trivia[edit]
- Some TV listings mistakenly show “Grandma Thora Appreciation Day / Fern's Slumber Party” airing twice. However, the description for the second airing is actually that of the next episode, "Love Notes for Muffy / D.W. Blows the Whistle."
- The rerun of “Arthur - It’s Only Rock 'n' Roll” will be the first national airing of the special in about two decades.
- Some local PBS stations will simulcast the final four episodes on both their main PBS channel and PBS KIDS channel.
- The official announcement for the marathon also revealed new Arthur content is planned for the future, including digital shorts, a podcast, and online games.[1] It was previously announced that reruns of the existing episodes would continue for "years to come."[2]
