Philip Seymour Hoffman (called William Phillmore Toffman in the show) (1967-2014) was an American actor and famous stage director from New York City. He directed many plays like True East, Jimmy Hopped The C Train and decided to return to Elwood City where he started his first play It Began with a Whistle. He helped Fern be able to adapt her own character to the roll of the character Little Lucy in "No Acting Please."

Death

On February 2, 2014, Hoffman was found dead at the age of 46 by screenwriter David Bar Katz in his West Village, Manhattan apartment. According to the New York City Police, he died of an apparent drug overdose.
