Scoobypedia

Hi, I'm Scrooge's friend. I helped him get Arthur Wiki off FANDOM to be independently hosted. I am currently making a backup of Scoobypedia for you. I think Grifkuba (which consists of a community of volunteers) might agree to host it (and I'm currently too short on money to be hosting it). The important thing for now is that I will try and make sure that the backup is there, ready to be used when the time comes (or if FANDOM changes their API to make it hard to get wikis off). Results May Vary (talk) 01:59, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

Thanks so much. It's not just Scoobypedia, it's other HB-themed wikis that I'm involved with that I'd like to add to that, if this is okay? I work on Dynomutt, Jonny Quest, Yogi Bear, Flintstones, and Jetsons already. I'd really like to just group all that stuff together. A few years ago, this is something I really wanted to do with mainly Scoobypedia, but didn't know how to go about it. I've never been really happy with the governing body of FANDOM and having to work within them, and would really like to be free of them. I look forward to things to come and hope it gets worked out. The merger of several wikis would be a great change (the main page would be a big challenge for me, because it wouldn't simply be a copy of Scoobypedia), but one I think will be most beneficial (The other wikis I work on are Yogi Bear Wiki, Jonny Quest Wiki, Dynomutt Wiki, The Jetsons Wiki, and The Flintstones Wiki.) -- TheAtomicLight (talk) 07:19, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Are you in an administrative position on those other four wikis? Ah nevermind, looks like you are. I'll try and backup up all of them for you Results May Vary (talk) 17:05, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm trying to hold out on big edits, to see where this is heading. -- TheAtomicLight (talk) 07:55, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi there! I'm the guy that is presently working on this (well, one of them). There's a lot of information to transfer over, ~13 Gigs, so it may be a while before it finishes. But if you have any questions, either regarding Hanna-Barbera or Arthur Wiki, just let me or someone know :) Alex95 (talk) 22:44, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Hey, thanks. Arthur Wiki was a simple transfer, but since I want to be more for all of Hanna-Barbera, instead of just Scooby, I was wondering if you'd still be using Scoobypedia as a base, and just adding stuff to that, or it will be like a reset, because on this Arthur Wiki it still says it was created in 2008, which isn't strictly true. -- TheAtomicLight (talk) 09:36, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
Not sure yet. Once I have the wiki properly setup, as in with at least just the base LocalSettings, we can discuss more details there. If you want to completely start over with no transferred content, well, then the dump RMV gave me is useless :P Alex95 (talk) 15:55, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
😬 I honestly wouldn't mind doing it from scratch, if that quickens the pace. -- TheAtomicLight (talk) 19:02, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
Scooby Doo is far larger than the other 5 wikis, so I think it could work as a standalone wiki. For example: scoobydoowiki.com. A Hanna-Barbera wiki could be like hannabarberawiki.com. Both are domains up for grabs Results May Vary (talk) 23:32, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
If you'd rather build it from the ground up all again, we can manage that. That should be a decision discussed with other members who want to be a part of the community, I think. Alex95 (talk) 23:39, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
While on FANDOM, the biggest coverage out of all of them is by far Scooby-Doo, but being on Grifkuba, I would like to start over and cover all of the entirety Hanna-Barbera. I've discussed it my my Facebook community (which happens to be for the Scoobypedia site), and I've got support there, but I wasn't sure when/if to bring it up on Scoobypedia yet. There's not really much community on the other sites, but I would make sure they were taken cared of before leaving. Once coming to Grifkuba, I don't really wish to split my time up between here and FANDOM. -- TheAtomicLight (talk) 23:56, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
Understandable. Wiki setup's taking a bit longer than expected, but I will let you know when the site is usable :) Alex95 (talk) 00:42, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

I was also wondering if we could make it so that only users who are approved can edit? This is what they've done at GargWiki, which is actually what happened to me when I signed up. -- TheAtomicLight (talk) 01:27, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Way ahead of you, already configured that. Wiki has finished the initial setup: https://hanna-barberawiki.com/wiki/Main_Page
Make an account there, and you (and whoever else that has been requested) will be given the proper rights. Perhaps you also have a Discord account to make discussions easier? Alex95 (talk) 20:10, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
Is FB good enough? I tried Discord once, after not being very sure of it, and it turned out to be a bad choice. Maybe I shouldn't let that stop me from doing more. But I'm gonna sign up right now! -- TheAtomicLight (talk) 21:04, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
I'm signed in. From taking a look at the Grifkuba rules, it looks like you won't be able to help me design the main page, is this correct? -- TheAtomicLight (talk) 21:10, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
I don't really use my Facebook for site matters. Regardless, I made my own account there as well, so you can talk to me that way. I can help where ever is needed :) Alex95 (talk) 22:16, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Technical updates

Hello. Alex95 has suggested ideas for the wiki, and I would like to hear your opinion on them. I have detailed them at Forum:Admin discussion. Scrooge200 (talk) 05:22, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

What's your opinion about this?

Hey there, TheAtomicLight. This is Arthur Read fan. On this past Tuesday, April 28, 2020, the Arthur Twitter account posted a tweet which involved the Arthur fist meme, despite the fact that WGBH disapproved of the meme back in 2016. Then, it got worse on the day after, when they tweeted a guide to Arthur memes, one of which was the fist. I thought it was very immature and inappropriate of them to post such things, and I started to seriously consider / debate removing the link to the Twitter account from the main page on the Arthur Wiki on FANDOM. I talked to Scrooge200 about this already, and he agrees with me about the matter, but I wanted to ask what you think about this before making a final decision. You can see the full discussion on Scrooge200's talk page (specifically the messages "An important message" and "It's back...") and on my talk page (the responses to those messages). What are your thoughts about this? -Arthur Read fan (talk) 04:38, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

While I don't agree with them supporting the meme (and there's also other stuff I don't agree with what they've done, such as the kids freaking out and running away from Arthur because he got made once or Sue Ellen being laughed at by Arthur), but Arthur has a wide age audience and is the official account, and anybody who wants to follow the account, we're giving instant access to, despite the mistakes they later make in supportive an idea they clearly didn't support to begin with. -- TheAtomicLight (talk) 09:14, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
(Sorry if this response is a little late. I had to sort out a couple of scenarios on FANDOM, one of which was blocking a vandal and reporting them to VSTF.) I also don't agree with everything they've done on Arthur, but I'm still for removing the Twitter link. I think it's the principle of it that matters to me more than just the meme itself. By posting / tweeting such things, they're basically making themselves look like hypocrites, and I also don't want people on FANDOM (or Grifkuba) to get the wrong ideas by leaving open access on the main page for Arthur Wiki to the meme tweets on Twitter. It's one thing if people look up the Twitter account online, but by leaving the open link to the account on the main page, it looks like we're encouraging their poor choices / behaviors, even if that isn't our intention. -Arthur Read fan (talk) 07:41, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
