How Arthur Accused! Could Have Been...

Here’s another episode of Arthur that could have gone alternate routes.

Scenario #1 Buster isn’t allowed to wear the detective outfit

Okay, not exactly affecting the plot. But doesn’t Lakewood Elementary have a dress code? Wouldn’t Buster’s detective outfit be considered “distracting” since it’s so unusual compared to everyone else’s outfits?

Scenario #2 Arthur holds open the bag of quarters to Mrs. MacGrady

I would have done this if I were Arthur. Mrs. MacGrady would have said “Hang on a minute” to the person she is talking to over the phone and say something like “Just put the quarters over.” The whole episode’s plot would have been avoided right here.

Scenario #3 Mrs. MacGrady SEES what she is pouring into brownie mix

You would think that Mrs. MacGrady would actually see what she is pouring into the mix and take them out of the mix. It’s a total no-brainer. Even if she doesn’t see the quarters, she could still hear them jiggle as she is pouring them into the mix!

Also, if she baked the brownies in the oven. The quarters would have melted from the heat and would cause copper poisoning. And if Buster didn’t solve the mystery and the kids at the picnic actually ate it, they could have been hospitalized for copper poisoning. Lakewood Elementary could have been potentially have been sued for a mistake that could have VERY, VERY easily have been spotted by her putting the quarters into the mix!

Scenario #4 Arthur explains to them that he went to the cafeteria to give Mrs. MacGrady the quarters but was unable to talk to her due to her being on the phone at the time. So he placed the bag of quarters on the table with the other bags.

Schools believe it or not, have security cameras. I am sure that they would look over the cafeteria kitchen camera and they could see that Arthur trying to get her attention and placing them on the table proving his innocence. And they would ALSO see that Mrs. MacGrady was pouring the quarters into the mix and question her!

Scenario #5 Mr. Morris cleaning up the mix would also notice the quarters and ask why she would put quarters in brownie mix

You would also expect this too.

Scenario #6 The quarters in the brownies melt but Buster is still able to prove that they were in the brownies

When Buster gets the idea that there was one extra ingredients in the brownies which were quarters. Buster breaks one in have to reveal the melted copper and they prove Arthur is truly innocent.

Scenario #7 Arthur misses the picnic and it was discovered that he was truly is innocent

The kids would bite into the quarter-filled brownies. Hurting their teeth and apologizing to Arthur after it was over. And they give him something to compensate for having him miss it. At least this proved, that Arthur was innocent even though he missed the picnic.

Scenario #8 (WARNING: The following scenario is scary, dark and disturbing.) The quarters in the brownies melt and BLEND in with the brownie mix as if it wasn’t there!

Meaning that Buster is unable to prove Arthur’s innocence. The picnic happens and the kids eat the brownies. Suddenly, they start getting poisoned by wheezing, throwing up and have the symptoms of copper poisoning. All the kids get hospitalized with SEVERE liver damage. The parents sue Mr. MacGrady and the school for the copper poisoning incident. The jury finds the school guilty and Mrs. MacGrady is prosecuted (even though she didn’t intentionally put the quarters in there to poison the kids.) The jury just wouldn’t buy that she accidentally baked quarters into the brownie mix because they would have called her out on how easy it would have been to spot something like that and they would believe she intentionally did that. Mrs. MacGrady is convicted with “Poisoning Food, Drinks, Water or Medicine” and is sent to state prison for 2-15 years. She wouldn’t be out until she was in her late 80’s or even early 90’s.

Thankfully, Buster solved it for real. And Mrs. MacGrady is genuinely a good person and this would be more than out of character for her to intentionally do something like that!

The next ones I am making are Double Dare and events from other episodes that could have happened differently such as Binky deliberately pulling the Mighty Mountain fire alarm knowing there was no fire.
