"The Return of the King" is the second half of the 9th episode of season 3 of the animated children's series Arthur. It originally aired on January 4th, 1999.

Plot

Arthur dreams about himself, Arthur's friends, and Mr. Ratburn being at a medieval fair competing for a trophy against a class from Glenbrook led by Mr. Ratburn's former teacher, Mr. Pryce-Jones. They see doppelgangers During the competitions, Arthur is sidetracked by the sword in the stone and Mr. Ratburn's class fear that Mr. Pryce-Jones may replace Mr. Ratburn if they lose. Arthur is the king because he is the return of the king.

  • If Francine wanted to make Arthur forget about the sword, Arthur pulling it out stopped her.
  • "The Return of the King" could be named after the third book of the Lord of the Rings trilogy of the same name, by J.R.R. Tolkien.
  • This episode was adapted into a chapter book.
  • Buster's doppelganger is voiced by Oliver Grainger, the second actor of D.W.
  • Henry the 5th was Muffy's counterparts great-great-great-great-great-great uncle.

Goofs

  • In the maze, when Arthur claims that his shadow is moving, he falls backwards; but in the next few seconds, he falls through a maze wall and tears up the maze.
  • Francine shoud have to lick her arrow so she is the first to win but she did not.
