It featured two half-hour specials: "[[Elwood City Turns 100!]]" and "April 9th". The special "[[Arthur - It's Only Rock 'n' Roll]]" served as its premiere.

|  width="88%" colspan="4" height="81" | [[Arthur Read|Arthur]] is thrilled when [[David Read|his dad]] invites him to go fly fishing. But there is a change of plan, and [[D.W. Read|D.W.]] has to come along, and he is disappointed. Why does he always have to not get his way and not hers?

Arthur is attached to it and fights to keep it from being sold to the mechanic. He makes a call to Car Talk, hoping they know how to fix it. [[Tom and Ray Magliozzi]] ([[the Car Talk guys]]) guest star as Click and Clack Tappet from Car Talk.

What if Arthur has to take over his dad's catering business and how would D.W. be an accountant if she can't count past ten? And most importantly, how will they raise Kate all by themselves?

|  width="88%" colspan="4" height="81" | D.W. finds that her [[snowball]] has returned (from "D.W.'s Snow Mystery"). She keeps it at bedside to prevent it from being stolen again, but it starts to melt. When Arthur doesn't answer accusations to his snowball theft, D.W. tricks the Brain to come over and investigate, only to discover that wasn't actually her snowball.

|  width="88%" colspan="4" height="81" | It's April 9, but the day goes awry when a fire destroys Lakewood Elementary. Buster is devastated that he didn't go through it. The kids are sent to [[Mighty Mountain School]]. Binky pulls the fire alarm because of his fear of the flames at the burning school. When Arthur fakes an illness, his dad finds out that he is worried about him because he was trapped in the school during the fire. He helps him see that it's his job to worry about Arthur. Sue Ellen gets a new diary from Muffy. Soon the kids return to Lakewood.

*This is the first season where [[Mark Rendall]] does the voice of [[Arthur Read|Arthur]], replacing [[Justin Bradley]]. Rendall also redubbed Bradley's dialogue for [[Season 6]] when it went into syndication. This is also the first season that [[Jason Szwimmer]], [[Alex Hood]] and [[Aaron Grunfeld]] voices [[D.W. Read|D.W.]], [[Alan Powers|Brain]] and [[Tommy Tibble]], respectively, replacing [[Oliver Grainger]], [[Steven Crowder]] and [[Jonathan Koensgen]].

*The series' first two-part episode is featured in this season, and it is the only season to have 2 two-part episodes.
