Ray "Woodpecker" Vance is a former player for the Elwood City Grebes. In 1918, he hit the game winning home run to win the Championship series. His ball would later become the beginning of the "curse of the Grebes."
Vance appears in Francine's fantasy version of the "curse." In this appearance, however, the name on his uniform says "Woodpecker," when it should really say "Vance," as "Woodpecker" is only a nickname. He wears uniform number one in this appearance.
