Penny is an alligator that lives at the Alligator Sanctuary in Louisiana. She appears in one of Ladonna's stories in "Based on a True Story." According to Ladonna, her brother Gussie worked at the sanctuary one summer, and was so bored that he brought the family's television set. Penny liked the soap opera so much that Gussie had to let the sanctuary keep the television set. Eventually, Penny had babies who also like soap operas.

- The soap opera that Penny was supposedly so fond of was the same one that Arthur was watching in "Is There a Doctor in the House?" when he was allegedly doing the chores that Mr. and Mrs. Read usually do.
