Real life.
Ming Tsai is a cuisine chef and the host of several Emmy Award-winning cooking shows. He appeared on Arthur in What's Cooking?, where he was the judge of the kid's cooking contest. Although they thought he was mean, serious, and rude because he was a celebrity, he turned out to be very friendly and encouraging.
His character model was used in The Frensky Family Fiasco as a judge of Starcast.
