There is a slight chance that he is a real ghost, as an unseen force (most likely the wind) was seen swinging the swings at the playground at the end of the episode.

Little Jack Murphy is the ghost of a boy said to have had locker 237, a haunted locker. He turns out to be just one of Fern's stories, although being slightly based on a real student named Jay Mayberry.

After he was assigned the locker, strange misfortunes began happening to him. A black cat crossed his path, he rode his bike into a bush, stepped in wet cement, and got his lunch stolen by a dog. Strange events continued until, one day, he just disappeared.

There is a slight chance that he is a real ghost, as an unseen force  was seen swinging the swings at the playground at the end of the episode.

Trivia

  • His misfortunes are nearly identical to Brain's in "Friday the 13th."
  • His only line was screaming when he crashed into a bush. This scream was reused from Timmy Tibble in "D.W. Rides Again." Coincidentally, both were riding their bikes into a bush.
