crulbThroughout the series, characters had made references to the Holy Bible. Here is a list of known references:

  • In Arthur, It's Only Rock and Roll, Mrs. McGrady says "Render unto Caeser, ya know! But you've rendered unto Caeser too much!" That phrase was a quote from Jesus Christ.
  • In the episode Sue Ellen Chickens Out, Brain says after eating a chicken sandwich from the resturant Chickin Lickin', he says"Ah! The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak!" This is another quote from Jesus Christ.
  • In the episode Do You Believe In Magic?, Buster says "O ye of little faith." Another quote from Jesus Christ.
  • In one episode, Catherine calls for "Solomon-like wisdom." She does this by adding a line of tape around the whole house to divide the place. This is referencing the time in the Bible when Solomon offers to cut a baby in half, being fought over by two mothers.
  • There are many mentions of the Bible in Arthur's Perfect Christmas such as David Read commenting that he based his food on what people would eat back in ancient Bethlehem when Jesus was born. Bitzi Baxter spots a radiant light in the sky, asking if it was a shooting star. Buster dismisses it as a satelite. This may be a reference to the Star of Bethlehem.
  • Brain often cites Torah and Biblical Old Testament writings such as "It's more significant than that, Francine. To truly you understand, you have to go back to the beginning of the Jewish people., when Abraham and Sarah begat Isaac, who begat Jacob, who begat Joseph, who begat-"
  • Buster remarks "You mean... your a believer?" towards Brain after Brain says he thinks there might be aliens out there.
