The show was in affiliation with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, which at the time toured the country. The show took place on the banks of [[Mill Creek River|Mill Creek]], and on the edge of the present day [[Mill Creek Mall]] parking lot. In the show, Sitting Bull tosses a spear at a bullseye flawlessly.<ref>[[On This Spot]]</ref>
===Official Founding, 1903===
Elwood City prospered decades before 1903 as a logging town. The first saw mill was built on the banks of [[Bear Lake]] under the supervision of [[Jacob Katzenelenbogan]] In 1903, an infirm Katzenelenbogan attended the official declaration of Elwood City's incorporation. President Theodore Roosevelt declared the area known as Elwood an official city. Prominent businessmen of time, Henry Ford and J.P. Morgan donated a statue in honor of the city's founder, which Katzenellenbogan did not appreciate the generous contribution, simply because he intended for the name to be Elmwood. It was never changed, therefore the name stuck since that day.<ref name=ECT100>[[Elwood City Turns 100!]]</ref>

The Read Family has lived in Elwood City with for a long period of time. [[Grandma Thora]] was born in Elwood, attended [[Elwood City High School]], and gave birth to 3 kids, one of them being [[David Read]], the father of [[Arthur Read]].

In the Summer of 1952, a family taking a peaceful countryside drive near Elwood City encountered a strange sight, which was thought to have been an extraterrestrial spacecraft.<ref name=ECT100/>
