Ernest J. Cherney* (also called Captain Jack[1]) is a retired sailor who now runs a small museum and gift shop by the beach.
He was once a member of an Antartic expedition on the S.S. Icebuster. He was separated from the boat and stranded on ice for a short time, but was rescued by some Irish scientists. They brought him to Dublin, where he lived until his retirement.
51 years after the rescue, Arthur's family and Buster came to the beach for several days. Buster finds the same bottle with a note inside that the captain threw into the water when he was stranded. Quite delighted by the discovery, he let Buster keep the bottle, partially because the note had his real name, and he can't stand the name Ernest.
