Comments Section?

Hello everyone, I finally made it around to coming back here to edit some more (after an editing break of over a year), and I noticed that now each page doesn't have a talk page, but rather a comments section. I don't know how long it's been around, but I kind of see a problem with it. With the comments section, it's harder to really have a discussion about info on an article, plus, now that it is called comments, it seems people just want to comment an opinion on the article subject, that does nothing but clutter up the recent activity list. I see that some other wikis still have the talk pages. Now, please don't take this as being mean, but I was wondering what other users are thinking about this. Can it even be changed easily? I'm sorry if in some way I offended someone by saying this, I'm just trying to bring this concern. I don't even know if anyone here can control this or not, as I really wasn't here at the time they began. Any info on it/opinions would be greatly appreciated. In-Universe Perspective

Quotes on pages

Postcards From Buster

Should this wiki cover the show Postcards From Buster? The main page says the wiki is about the book and TV series Arthur, but Buster and some of the other characters in Arthur appear in Postcards From Buster. Muppetfan 12:14, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

Since I have never seen Postcards From Buster (it doesn't air in my area), I can't say for sure. However, it depends on whether the focus of this wiki is solely on the TV series, or whether other aspects of the Arthur universe should be included (books, video games, other merchandise). Judging from the main page, it seems all Arthur universe material is okay, so yes Postcards from Buster is acceptable. --Noahcs 17:45, June 9, 2010 (UTC)

Character pages

Which of these formats sound better when making character pages? Using what they were addressed in the show (Ranger Ruth, Dr. Bailey) or using just the character's actual name (Ruth, Bailey). --Noahcs 14:29, June 12, 2010 (UTC)

I think using what the characters were adressed in the show would be better. It would make it easier to find the characters. For example, if I was looking up the the ranger in "Buster's Dino Dilemma," the first thing I'd look for would be Ranger Ruth, because that's what she was called in the show. If I couldn't find a Ranger Ruth, I'd quit looking, thinking she doesn't have a page. Do we even know that Ruth is her first name? Could it be her last name? Now if Ranger Ruth would appear again in an upcoming episode as just Ruth, then it might make sense to move her page to Ruth. Also, who is Dr. Bailey? Muppetfan 14:50, June 12, 2010 (UTC)

That idea sounds great. Dr. Bailey is Arthur's personal doctor. He is mentioned in The Half-Baked Sale, when Grandma Thora is talking about the emergency numbers. --Noahcs 17:59, June 12, 2010 (UTC)

I think their names in the show "eg Ranger Ruth" should be redirected to the page with their real name.

Appearances

Do you think it would be a good idea to list a character's appearances on their page? Maybe not for the main characters, as theirs would be too long, but maybe the minor characters. We do this on Muppet Wiki, and I thought that maybe we could try it here. Here is an example:

I started ones on the page for Pickles and the page for Marina. Also, do you think it would be necessary to note when the character just has a cameo in the episode or is only in a dream or flashback? Like this:

Alex and Maria

I came across this and I think it may be right. The two rabbits seem to be the only unnamed characters in the classroom. The names Alex and Maria also are on the list of names in "Arthur's Number Nightmare." What do you think? --Muppetfan 18:46, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

I’m hesitant to give characters names based off a chart. Besides, which one would be which? Maybe if you uploaded a picture of the rabbits you are referring to. --Noahcs 22:55, July 2, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, it may be a good idea to leave these characters unnamed if we're not sure. If we'd count Alex and Maria as their names and they get different names in a future episode, we would have a lot of changing to do. And you'd think if the writers wanted Alex and Maria to be their names, they would have introduced them instead of having them as unnamed rabbits. --Muppetfan 13:49, July 3, 2010 (UTC)

Otis

In the notes section of "Dancing Fools" it says, "This is the first appearance of a kid called Otis." Though it may be the first time Otis was named, I'm not sure it was his first appearance. In "Arthur's Eyes," there is a character that I think looks just like Otis, except without glasses. The character appears when the class is getting their eyes checked and when Francine and the rest of the class is making fun of Arthur in the classroom. This character often appeared in other episodes. Could this be Otis? --Muppetfan 18:46, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

The fact that this episode was the one where a character was named shouldn‘t be in a "Notes" section, but you bring up a good point: Should characters that look similar be counted as the same character? For instance, the Dry cleaners worker is the EXACT same person whose cat was saved by Buster. Also, I remember there being lots of police officers on the show. A couple off the top of my head are the one in the fudge factory in Arthur's Family Vacation and the one who was carrying Pal during Arthur's Lost Dog. If the Dry cleaners worker is the exact same person as the one in "Buster Baxter, Cat Saver," then they should be counted as the same character. I think a police officer page would be a good idea for unnamed police officers, but if they get a name then they should probably get their own page. With Otis, the character in "Arthur's Eyes should probably be counted as Otis. It is very possible that he could've just gotten glasses. --Muppetfan 13:49, July 3, 2010 (UTC)

School Nurse

I've always wondered what the school nurse's name was. In "The Lousy Week" Muffy calls the nurse something after she finds out that she has lice. But I can't quite make out what she calls her. Definition of an episode

What do you think should qualify as an episode? Should "Arthur’s Eyes/Francine’s Bad Hair Day" be a single episode and each story be a 'half' or a 'part', or should "Arthur’s Eyes" be an episode and "Francine’s Bad Hair Day" be an episode. It almost seems like they are two episodes that aired together. The plots are different and many times they were written and drawn by different people. I think "Arthur's Eyes" should be one episode and "Francine's Bad Hair Day" be another. --Muppetfan 13:49, July 3, 2010 (UTC)

Citations

I keep noticing users adding bits of information to the Arthur Wiki that might have been made up. Do you guys that there should be a policy that says users should give the name of the episode they found a certain fact in. Character Ages

I have a few questions about character ages. Emily and D.W. have both turned 5 in the series. Would this mean the Tibble Twins turned 5? Aren't the Tibbles older than D.W.? If they are, that would mean they've turned 5 too. Also, in "Brain's Shocking Secret," it is revealed that Brain was held back and spent two years in kindergarten. Would this mean he is 9? PBS Kids' Arthur page says he is 8, but it also doesn't mention that Emily is now 5. What do you guys think? --Muppetfan 02:11, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, in Brain's Shocking Secret, if he was originally in the same grade as Prunella, that sure meant he first went to kindergarten at age 4, but since he was introduced in the book Arthur Goes to Camp, he was always described as eight years old as a third grader. --FrancineFan3883

Reliability

All articles of characters, places, animals, and things must be proofread and accurate. Do not add any false/misleading information, which includes anything that is not true in the series and/or just one's own opinions. Do not create articles or add any images that do not relate to Arthur series (for example, the Sonic the Hedgehog series, which "obviously" does not relate to the Arthur series). However, franchises outside of the Arthur series may only be referenced like play-ons such as that Bionic Bunny is in fact a play-on the DC Comics Superman series, and that Mary Moo Cow is a play-on Barney & Friends. Also, do not edit any pictures like adding a tail on a character who does not have a tail. Adding false/misleading information, fake screenshots (screenshots that happened to be edited into anything they're not), false promotional images (promotional images that have been edited into something they're not), and/or opinions are considered vandalism and will be reverted to prove the facts. It's not okay to vandalize a page, they must all be proofread. --FrancineFan3883 18:09 December 9, 2010 (UTC)

I think there should be a single article on what happens in the future to Arthur characters instead of the information being spread out along character pages. But we would also have to decide whether parts of episodes like "The Election" and "DW's Time Trouble"

Please delete contributor arthursucksdick. He has trashed numerous articles.

I, Arthurinfo, second the motion to delete the aforementioned contributor. And be on the lookout for people like him. I had to correct an article a few weeks ago because someone had inserted gibberish in Buster's bio information. Note my edit: removed gibberish.

Koopa?

Hello, glad to be part of this wikia.

I always thought that Francine and Muffy and their families were monkeys, but they are listed as Koopas.

What exactly is a Koopa? I know there are Koopas in the Mario Bros. Series, but other than that I have no clue.

I reccommend all current pages in the "Superheroes" category for deletion. They seem to be constructed of false claims and the 'superheroes' are user-created and not from the Arthur books or television series. Additions I reccommend are Bionic Bunny, Dark Bunny, etc. as canonical superheroes, if this category is to be taken seriously.

The characters in the Superheroes characters are real. They were mentioned in one episode, I just forgot the name.

When will the speedy deletions pages be deleted?

Hey I was wondering. Is Toby an Aardvark or a bear because on his profile, it says that he is an aardvark but on Otis' profile it says "he is a bear like Alan Powers and Toby". Fanon Portal?

Hello, Arthur Wiki Users. I believe it is important that we expand upon our wiki's content to a degree. Why not add a Fanon portal? On this portal we all could create our own Fanfiction stories related to Arthur. It would require a simple creation of a Fanon: Namespace, so all of the Fanfiction would be seperated into one area of the wiki; however, all Fanon articles would count in the total number of articles.

It would then be necessary to create a position called, "Fanon Administrator". Fanon Administrators would monitor the activity of the Fanon namespace in particular. They also would be given the privilege of deleting any irrelevant Fanon stories or vandalism on the Fanon portal. Note that all articles in this Fanon namespace would have titles like this: Fanon:Arthur's Story.

Well, I don't know, I've always thought about some sort of Arthur Fanon section. There's not many fan stories created by the users here, but I think it is a reasonable idea. lp (msg)

Style/layout

On an episode there's "Official synopsis" & "Synopsis". Which is for the short & which is for the long. What makes it official? I also think it would be a good idea to change one of them so they're easier to tell apart from. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible 00:26, November 4, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, it is a little hard to read. I meant for example on "Bully for Binky" the 1st heading is "Synopsis" which I think should begin with a short intro & then the "Official synopsis" can detail the ep in full with pics I might add (not me personally, but hopefully you get my meaning) instead of a seperate "Gallery" section.

I also find that referring to them both as a synopsis might be confusing. The first one could say "Premise" instead or something because I find it a little easier to understand.

safari icon

fandom appears to have set the $wgAppleTouchIcon variable to file:wiki.png, but it appears it hasn't been set in the new Arthur wiki, so perhaps it should be since currently the wiki just shows as an "A" in the safari home screen.--Serprinss (talk) 07:21, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
