Alessio is an Italian rat mentioned by Pepe on his journey as told in "Flea to Be You and Me". The rat is not anthropomorphic, and its characteristics are shared with a normal rat.
When Pepe is separated from his flea circus in Rome, Alessio rescues him from being stepped on and takes him to a closed open air market where they have dinner. The next day Alessio gets on a ship bound for Africa because he has had enough of humans and traps. He takes the sleeping Pepe with him. They part in Egypt.
