Ed Billings is a character in Arthur who appears in the episode Grandpa Dave's Old Country Farm. He is a friend of Arthur's Grandpa Dave and offers to give him a hand on his farm but Dave refuses any help as the family has been taken care off the farm for 150 years. Later on Dave has Ed to take Arthur and D.W. hiking on Mount Springle while he works on the Hen House. Once they reach the top Arthur and D.W. ask Ed why their Grandpa can't keep the farm fixed up to which Ed answers that the work on the farm is becoming harder for their Grandpa as he's getting older and that their Grandpa is an independent old timer and won't accept help from anybody. When Ed, Arthur, and D.W. return from the mountain they realize that Dave didn't finish work on the Hen House as it became too difficault for him to finish. The next day Arthur and D.W. help Grandpa Dave work on the Hen House roof and Ed stops by and offers to help to which Dave allows Ed to help as long as Ed doesn't tell anyone around town. In two days Arthur, D.W., Grandpa Dave, and Ed finish the Hen House but when Arthur and D.W.'s parents come to pick them up they notice more work to be done to which Dave replies There's No End to Work on a Farm. Ed offers once again to help Dave around the farm to which this Dave agrees saying they need to get some help around the farm and he asks Ed what he knows about tractor engines. Ed also appears in two other Arthur episodes. He appears in the episode Buster's New Friend as a farmer on the Bionic Bunney Show that Buster and Arthur watch towards the end of the episode and Ed also appears in the episode Buster's Sweet Success as a Man who buys chocolate from Buster but later returns it to Buster as the choclates didn't taste good.
