"Clarissa is Cracked" is the second half of the 12th episode of Season 3 of the animated children's series Arthur. It originally aired on March 15th, 1999.

Summary

D.W. borrows Grandma Thora's porcelain doll, Clarissa, and she cracks the doll the day she is supposed to return it. Arthur gets the help of Mr. Ratburn to try to fix it.

Plot

D.W. borrows her grandmother's porcelain doll, Clarissa. While D.W. was borrowing the doll, she was fiddling around with her, such as styling her hair, getting her to eat something despite that dolls are stationary, and messing her up, and then Clarissa had the left upper quarter of her face broken off. When it was almost time for Thora to have the doll back, D.W. and her family were trying several ways to get her fixed: the Doll Hospital that was closed for a month, the Doll Repairs website that had repair plans put on hold for six months, and then D.W. tried fixing Clarissa by tying a headband around her head to hold up the broken piece which doesn't stay together. Arthur then takes D.W. to Mr. Ratburn who manufactures and repairs puppets. Mr. Ratburn then agrees to fix the doll, and then a couple of hours later, D.W., Arthur, and their father David come to Mr. Ratburn's house to pick up the doll. D.W. fears he could have destroyed her and Arthur screams, but then find out he has completely restored the doll. After Clarissa is restored, D.W. then takes Clarissa home, and shows Thora the doll. Thora then explains that she has broken Clarissa over the years, but always managed to have her fixed the same way Mr. Ratburn did.

Trivia:

*Apparently, the Clarrisa's head became detached and was shoved into the couch, as revealed in a Season 5 episode.
