Mr. Read: The important thing is to try to work together. That’s the only way this will work.

Arthur: How can we work together when she won’t let me put things away?

D.W.: Can I say something?

Mrs. Read: Arthur, D.W. helped you clean your room, so now it’s up to you to return the favor.

D.W.: I have something to say.

Arthur: But, I'm missing Happy Crazy...whatever-it-is Day!

Mr. Read: That’s not D.W.’s fault. If you'd cleaned your room when you were supposed to, Arthur, you wouldn't have this problem.

D.W.: I have something to say.

Mrs. Read: What is it, D.W.?

D.W.: Is it okay if I just cleaned my room myself?

Mr. Read: What?!

D.W.: Can I just clean by myself, please? Please? I don't want Arthur touching my things.

Mr. Read: Well, I think...

Mrs. Read: Yes, thanks, D.W.. That's a wonderful idea.

Arthur: Yes! Thanks, D.W.. Whoo-hoo!     He runs out the door. On the staircase he pauses and comes back.   D.W., are you sure you don't need any help?

D.W.: No. First of all, you have cooties. Second of all, I think you'd be sad if you didn't go to the park. And third of all, you have cooties.

Arthur: Thanks.

Francine: Why were you so late, Arthur? You almost missed it.

Arthur: It was all D.W.’s fault. She… Well… I guess it’s kind of my fault. I hadn’t cleaned my room for a while.

Brain: I’ve done that too. One time my mom wouldn’t let me do any extra credit projects until I cleaned it up.

Buster: Why can’t I have your mom?

Mr. Frensky comes with pointy sticks and a large sack.

Mr. Frensky: Hey, nice of you kids to stick around. You know what they say: “Many hands make light work”.

Buster has a fantasy in which he has ten arms (four on each side and two instead of ears).

Buster: Cool.

Arthur: It’s not what you think.

Mr. Frensky: Working together will make things go a lot faster.

Arthur: (sighs)  So I’ve heard.
