The game plays very similar to that of Persona series. The game takes place over a whole school year and each day is broken up into daytime and night time. You take control of Arthur while he and his friends go through the 4th grade. During the day the you will be able to go to school and do different events to advance the story. There are two main areas to explore, Elwood City and The Book World. In Elwood City you can can talk to people, do side quests and buy healing and support items in shops like the Sugar Bowl and Mill Creek Mall . In The Book World you can battle enemies to level up. At certain events you will be asked what to say in a certain situation. By letting Arthur make a good decision or make the other person feel good by being nice to them your friends meter will begin to fill up. Once its full you will gain a friend level that can give you special benifits in battle. When you enter The Book World it is broken up into different dungeons based on books that the characters have read like a Bionic Bunny comic. In each dungeon you can find treasure boxes and Woogles which are the enemies in this game. Unlike other RPGs you start a battle by going up to an enemy and choose to battle it or not. Battles are turn-based with where each character can attack with their weapon, do a special attack, or use support or healing items. Each character has different type that gives them a edge in battle. For example Arthur is a normal type, Buster is a skill type, Binky is a power type etc. Enimeies have different weaknesses and by attacking them with their weakness you can get a random stat boost for 3 turns. By consistently doing this you can unleash a characters Special Hit move to a lot of damage.
